Melissa Mason & Amanda Ford: The Inner Work of Repair
The peace we cultivate internally becomes a resource we can draw from in our relationships, families, and communities.

Melissa Mason, CSW & Amanda Ford, LCSW
We often think of peace as something that happens out there — in our families, communities, or the wider world. We imagine it as a state we arrive at once conflict has been resolved, once everyone agrees, once the dust settles. But most lasting repair begins somewhere quieter and closer: within ourselves.
When we feel tension, anger, fear, or shame, those emotions don’t just affect our own inner landscape — they ripple outward. The way we relate to our own pain shapes the way we relate to others. When we meet our internal conflict with curiosity instead of judgment, gentleness instead of avoidance, we start to open space for genuine peace to take root.
When we learn to meet our own discomfort with gentleness, we create the capacity to meet others’ discomfort with the same compassion. When we make peace with our own contradictions, we become less reactive and more open to the complexity of others.

Melissa and Amanda emphasize that peacemaking is not the same as appeasement. It’s not bypassing discomfort or pretending everything is okay. True peacemaking begins with honesty — noticing where we are out of alignment, where judgment lingers, where pain still speaks.
Repair is not about perfection — it’s about practice. It’s the ongoing process of tending to what’s hurt or fragmented within us, so we can show up more whole for others. By slowing down and listening inwardly, we start to transform how we engage outwardly.
In a world saturated with noise and urgency, peace can feel like a luxury. But it’s actually a form of strength — a discipline that starts with how we tend to our own inner world.
Join Melissa & Amanda to do this inner work, Saturday, October 25 8:30am (sold out) or 2:00pm at REPAIR.
Can’t wait to see you in October!
